The 22 / 23 /24th Bulletins issued by the Grande Armee while in Moscow - dated respectively September 27, October 9 and October 14, 1812.

22nd Bulletin

The Consul General Lesseps is appointed intendant of the province of Moscow ... The fire is completely stopped ... The enemy has retreated to Kaluga and Tula ... Much of the army is stationed in Moscow where it is recovering from it's fatigue.

23rd Bulletin

The advance guard commanded by the King of Naples is at Nara, 20 miles from Moscow ... The Cossacks harry on our flanks ... Was with great difficulty we make hospitals and homes for Russian patients. There are still about 4,000 of these unfortunate ... There has been 8 days of sun and warmer weather than in Paris this season ... The commanding General Bagration died of injuries he received at the battle of Borodino ... The Russian army disavows the burning of Moscow. The perpetrators of this attack are an abomination to the Russians ...

24th Bulletin

The weather is still beautiful. The first snow fell yesterday. In 20 days it will be Winter quarters ... All injured were evacuated to Minsk and Mohiloff. Many have recovered and returned to their units .... Engineers have surveyed the city map marking the houses that were saved from the fire. It follows that one is able to save from fire no more than a tenth of the city. Nine-tenths no longer exist....


The 24th bulletin dated October 14 is the last written in Moscow, Napoleon and the Imperial Army will abandon the city on the 19th October
