An officers grade, third type Legion of Honour. This version of the Legion d'honneur was issued from 1808 to 1811, after which 'balls' were added to the points. This was done to stop the catching and tearing of the uniform fabric by the stars points. The gold decorations, such as this one, were reserved for commanding officers, senior officers and officers.
