A candlestick in the form of a classically draped woman holding a wreath, the candle pan sitting on a ionic column balanced on her head. Around the base are stamped inventory marks for the Tuileries Palace, probably done during the time of King Louis-Phillipe (1830s). The Tuileries was Napoleons Paris residence and he spent more time here than any of his other residences. It is highly likely this candlestick comes from the Imperial Apartments within the Tuileries Palace. 'The château of Fontainebleau holds a similar candlestick in its collection. 34x13cm
