Prince Eugene, writing from Moscow on the 6th October 1812 to Clarke, the Duc de Feltre, Minister of War, asking that he return to Italy some troops currently in Spain and that he also commence a levee. 'Perhaps Prince Eugene had a foreboding of the losses the 'Grand Armeé' would suffer on the retreat from Russia.
