Biscuit bust of Jerome Napoleon, King of Westphalia
Furstenberg Porcelain Factory, Germany
c. 1810
23cm
A biscuit bust of Jerome Napoleon made by the Fürstenberg porcelain factory, modelled by Karl Heinrich Schwarzkopf from the life-size marble version by Johann Christian Ruhl which was made for Jerome's residence in Cassel, Westphalia. It is inscribed on the back with Jérôme Napoléon premier Roi de Westpahlie. A similar bust of Jerome's wife, Catherine of Wurttemberg was also produced. Unfortunately most of the records at the Fürstenberg porcelain factory have been destroyed so it is not known how many of these busts were produced.
These busts were often given away as state and personal gifts by Jerome and Catherine.
