Bound in full leather and richly decorated with gilt arms of King Louis XVIII. This book of selected Italian prose with the arms of King Louis also bears the private library stamps of 'Cabinet de S.M 'Empereur et Roi' and that of ‘Bibliotheque Particuliere du Roi’ which indicates this book has been in both Napoleon's and Louis' personal libraries. On the return of Louis in 1814 all the books bearing Imperial symbols were removed and were either rebound or had there Imperial markings covered up.
