A Certificate of Service, dated Madrid the 25th September 1809, for Etienne COURTIAL
as a member of the 5th company of the 1st battalion of Grenadiers of the Royal Spanish
Guard of Joseph Napoleon, King of Spain. Most of the Spanish Royal Guard had previously
served under Joseph as his guard while he was King of Naples and moved with him when
he became King of Spain.
The last image is of an officer and grenadier in the Spanish Royal Guard of King Joseph.
