Two dinner plates
Sevres, Manufacture Imperiale
1827
White ground with a mosaic of flowerettes and a dark blue boarder with a frieze of flowerettes.
These plates are in the same design for a 'service d'entrée' ordered by Elisa,Grand Duchess of Tuscany and eldest sister to Napoleon, for the Pitti Palace in Florence and delivered in 1810. The complete service consisted of a 'service d'entrée' and a 'service de dessert' of over 128 pieces, costing 15,203 francs. These plates are dated 1827 but were probably just copies of the service, not replacement plates. The other two pictures are the 'service d'entrée' which is held in the Porcelain Museum in Florence, Italy.
