These cups were specifically designed for sorbet which was only use by people of the highest social rank. Before the advent of machines to make ice it could only be gathered from frozen lakes in winter and stored in ice houses, which were built in the shadiest part of a house's grounds. This cup was likely manufactured by the same company that made the ones shown in the last two pictures, which bears the cypher of the Empress Josephine and are now part of the musee Malmaison collection.
