Spoon from the Tuileries Palace
1804-1814
28cm
Stamped marks of << TUILERIES >> and Imperial crown with capital << N >>
This steel, with tin coating, spoon probably comes from the kitchens within the Tuileries Palace. The marking of items like this was done to try to stop any theft from the Imperial Palaces. The last picture shows an identical set of marks, ‘N’ and crown, from a copper cauldron that was used when Napoleon was on campaign.
